Dober dan! Moi! Hi! Xin chào! My name is Hang Nguyen, 20 years old, from Vietnam, a new intern at Institute mOBILNO to go. I am  currently studying Energy and Environmental Engineering bachelor’s degree at Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK), Finland. I like orange color, cooking different cuisines from different cultures, experiencing new aspects of life. Some of my favorite writers include Haruki Murakami and Margaret Mitchell. Even though I study engineering, I like accounting and I am not so into doing laboratory work… During my studying in Finland, I involved in several projects, varying from environmental industries, digital media and business to refugee projects. Like one of my friends saying: ‘Every person is a book that you have to read every chapter of it!’, I am pretty sure mine is not yet finished. Let just say that destiny pulls me over Slovenia and to David’s company. One very dawn day as any other usual winter day in Finland, I found a job advertisement of an intern position from Institute mOBILNO to go. As you can guess, I applied immediately and here I am now, in Ljubljana, Slovenia. I did not even do any literature research about Slovenia before […]

It has been two years ago that I did my Erasmus internship in Koper. Back then I helped David (who is, by the way, still the coolest boss I ever had), to develop passive greenhouses. Well, a lot has changed since. It was at Institute mOBILNO to go that I first encountered dry toilets, and I immediately liked this idea. After the lovely summer of 2016 which I spent in Koper it was time to decide for a research topic for my final thesis. From the first second it was clear to me that it has to be about toilets, one way or the other. I ended up researching and writing about the acceptance of alternative sanitation in Austria. My dream is that one day people will understand that “normal” toilets are not the future! However last summer I graduated from my course at the University of Applied Sciences in Salzburg. Because I like David’s line of work and strongly agree with his ideas and thoughts I finally decided to once more travel to Koper for work. Oh boy, a lot has changed here. But that was only to expect, the young company grew two years older. More experienced and […]

Hello everyone!!! My name is Ioanna and I am from Cyprus. I graduated Mechanical Engineering in the University of Cyprus and during the last year of my studies I decided that I wanted to find a job abroad where I would be able to practice engineering and have the experience of living alone in a different country. The internship at Institute mOBILNO to go and KAKIS was the best opportunity for me as the position was a challenge for me. My internship started in October and until now I have a great time here in the beautiful Koper. Koper is a wonderful city, the sea, the port and the town center are wonderful, and you always have something to do. Mr.David is a very nice boss and the tasks he gives me are very interested and challenging and I enjoy working for him. Besides work I already managed to do some trips during the weekends, Italy is only half hour away! I also attended a trip to Serbia where I met other students and I had a great time. Ljubljana the capital of Slovenia is only an hour away and is a magnificent city.My conclusion so far is that I […]

Although I have only been working in Institute mOBILNO to go for three weeks David (the probably coolest boss in the world) allowed me to make a trip for a full week. Of course it was not only for holidays but rather for educational purposes because I attended a Summer School of Riga’s Technical University(RTU)! During this amazing week I have not only seen the capital and various smaller places, also have I experienced the real Latvia. The Summer School – A Journey Beyond The Traditional Wooden Craft and Art – consisted of lectures and workshops. First every participant built their own wooden bench (featuring traditional wooden joints), to learn about the material properties and the woodworking machines. This was happening in RTU’s workshop, during this time we also visited the city of Riga and even had a boat tour on the Daugava one beautiful evening. On Wednesday we travelled to the small town of Ligatne where we should spent the second half of our Latvia-Trip. There we visited a traditional wood craft museum, an incredible place where we worked under the open sky. On the first day there only few hours passed until everyone could feel the hard work […]

Hello! I am studying architecture at the University of Granada. This is my last year and I wanted to get experience before finalizing my final project, and I have found an excellent opportunity at Institute mOBILNO to go because I am very interested in sustainable constructions. I think it´s essential to understand the importance of building with the premises that take us to a healthier future, so here I expect to increase my knowledge about healthy materials, renewable energies, self-sufficient constructions… while I collaborate with the institute. In my future, this is one of the paths that I would like to follow. I really like nature, so here in Slovenia I would like to know the environment and travelling around the country for knowing the culture. Elena David KodarinGeneral director of the KAKIS ltd and the development manager of the Institute mOBILNO to go. By profession, he is a university graduated civil engineer but soon he realized that he wants to not just to build houses but also a more sustainable future. He is passionate about sustainability, ecological products, zero waste principles and much more. He likes to do sports, uses opensource software, he is vegetarian, uses his bike as […]

Hi there, My name is Peter and I am a student at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences in Timber Constructions. My study’s focus is on structural mechanics, constructional details and of course the material properties of wood but also on financing, marketing and languages. I started my internship at mOBILNO to go today (August 2016), before I already worked as an intern in a small carpentry in Austria, my home country. There I gained a lot of practical experience, learned how to use different kinds of woodworking machinery and worked on various projects. Well, I guess that is enough about my education and work. Although I also like architecture and wood in my private life. During leisure time I enjoy taking walks to the forest, cycling, swimming, reading, cooking (and food in general) and gardening (although I don’t actually have a garden, but on my window sill there are tons of different plants). As you can imagine Koper is an awesome place for me to live in, because I can pursue my hobbies here! Another big passion of mine is travelling, so I will use the weekends to see a lot of the beautiful country of Slovenia! David KodarinGeneral director […]

Internship update My internship started two months ago. Time goes by so quickly and I really learned and explored a lot since I came to Koper. The working atmosphere is very familiar. I feel free in choosing and working on tasks. We do a lot of research, so it’s like educating yourself about topics you are interested in. I got a lot of ideas for a future place of employment or companies I would be interested to work for. Besides work I have a lot of spare time which I use to travel. It’s also not a problem to ask David spontaneously to get off, if there’s something exciting I want to do 😉 In August we climbed Slovenias highest mountain Triglav together. That was an awesome experience! On weekends I often do activities with Elena and Peter. We arranged to live together in an apartment with two Slovenian girls. I already feel like a local and enjoy living in Koper a lot. It’s like holidays for me 😉 Koper offers various events on weekends during the summertime. Although streets are full of people in the evening it’s not a party town for the younger ones. But the capital is […]
